Dynamic Dallas History Tour

JFK Memorial in Dallas, Texas

2 hour guided walking tour

Looking for things to do in Dallas? Take a guided walking tour through the streets of Dallas and experience the place where so many dramatic events happened.  This unique tour combines the power of storytelling with thought provoking observation of the urban landscape. You will see the relationships behind the dynamic forces that shape this city. From frontier justice to bold entrepreneurship to national tragedy. Our daily tours are offered year round, under two hours, with a casual paced one mile walk through the major historical sites.

Frontier Justice

The people who settled the western frontier depended on direct action and swift, public punishment. Hear stories of Doc Holiday and other outlaws who came to Dallas because of its pioneering spirit and bold entrepreneurship.

Depression Era Outlaws

You have heard of being from the wrong side of the tracks. Well Bonnie and Clyde were from the wrong side of the Trinity River. Learn how the unique social conditions of Dallas during the Great Depression created two young outlaws from Hell’s Porch in west Dallas.

Guided Exploration of The West End

Here's a look at what makes the West End unique:

The West End Historic District is unique because it blends its rich history as the city’s first trading post with modern attractions. This vibrant area boasts museums, unique shops, and restaurants that showcase Dallas’s heritage while offering a lively urban atmosphere. The district is also known for its historic brick warehouses, now beautifully restored and housing various businesses.

Near the birthplace of Dallas:

The West End is across the street from where John Neely Bryan established Dallas's first trading post in 1841. You can see his cabin there today, although some suspect it is an imposter. The cabin’s closeness to the West End District makes for convenient sightseeing when you are in the area.

Early Warehouse District:

The West End was once a bustling warehouse district connected to nearby railroad yards. The DART commuter train that runs down Pacific Avenue is a powerful reminder of how the railroads made the city prosper in 1872. Hear the story of how local politicians wheeled-and-dealed to manipulate state legislation to make Dallas the first city in Texas to have a north south rail intersection with an east west ra…

Architecture, Restaurants, Museums & Innovation

Modern Attractions and Activities:

The area is home to museums like the Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza and the Dallas Holocaust & Human Rights Museum.

It features a wide range of restaurants, from casual eateries to upscale steakhouses, as well as bars and live entertainment venues.

While its red brick architecture and historical significance make the West End unique, it is also the heart of Dallas’ Innovation District.

The West End is now a hub for technology, with the Dallas Innovation District attracting companies, entrepreneurs, and startups.
